Dating Rules

While dating should be fun and exciting, one must remember that there are a few dating rules and guidelines that must be followed in order to maximize the chance of a successful date.

First, you definitely want to make a good impression. You don't want to come off as a big-shot show-off. But, you don't want to sell yourself short either. This is an important dating rule to remember. Choose wisely, the location of your date, as it will help to set the tone for the rest of your time together. You want to be able to have private conversation. That doesn't mean you need to have total privacy so much as it means that you need to be in an atmosphere in which there is enough background noise to where you don't feel like everybody around you can hear every word you're saying. This can be intimidating to a lot people. You don't want your date to potentially feel conspicuous. On the other hand you don't want a place that's so loud you can't converse in a normal manner.

Secondly, don't stare at your date's body. This second dating rule is one you don't want to forget as staring at your dates body excessively will certainly send a bad message. It doesn't matter how physically-attractive your date is, you should not stare at them. It's rude and inappropriate. Of course you can look at them but just don't stare. Otherwise your date could get the impression that you're not really after a long-term relationship so much as you're after sex. Keep your eyes on the face--especially when you're talking to him/her.

A third dating rule worth following is to not show off your wealth or act rude in any other way such as getting in petty arguments with those around you such as a waitress or cab driver. You only hurt your chances of a second date when you act in such an obnoxious manner.

Definitely don't be late. This fourth dating rule is a big one. Being late to pick up your date is a great way to send a message to your dating partner that you could care less about making them wait. You may have had a good reason for being late but the damage is already done. That's why it's a good idea to leave extra early. You never know when a road or highway will be blocked or delayed due to traffic congestion. If you arrive early you can always circle the neighborhood for ten minutes before actually pickup up your date. This way you can time it down to the minute if you want to do so.

Do you want to completely disgust your date and significantly decrease your chances of a second date? If so, then ignore this next dating rule. You should always have good personal hygiene and grooming when spending time with a date. Otherwise you will send a message to them that says that since you don't care enough to clean yourself up that your probably have no intentions of putting forth much effort in the future relationship either. Date over. Go home. Please groom yourself!

The last dating rule is to just use plain common sense when you go on a date. The rest will fall into place.
