Single Groups
Are you single? Do you find yourself eating alone often? Do you watch movies on Friday night by yourself? Are in search of some good quality friends? Are you searching for that feeling of connectedness that only human relationships can provide? If so, then perhaps you might be interested in joining a local singles group in your area.
A good singles group can fulfill all of those needs. In Genesis 2:18, God says that "It is not good for the man to be alone." As humans, we were designed to need relationships. A good singles group will provide an opportunity to develop a relationship with other people who are also looking for friendships. The great thing is that everbody knows up front that you're single just by the fact that you're in the singles group. Therefore, it's very easy to just be yourself and to enjoy a richer social life. You will find that you no longer feel like the fifth wheel at parties with your married friends. In addition, if you're seeking a romantic relationship, there's probably no better place than in a singles group. As you are building your non-romantic and same-sex friendships you will often cross paths with a member of the opposite sex who really catches your eye. It's so much easier to approach them as a fellow member of your singles group as opposed to a cold encounter off the street or in a bar.
Singles groups will allow you the opportunity to nuture healthy same-sex friendships at the same time that you are pursuing a romantic relationship. This is a tremendous benefit because it is a known fact that a romantic relationships tend to be stronger when both partners have strong and healthy same-sex friendships outside of their romantic relationship. It's good for men to have strong male friendships and it's good for women to have strong female friendships. A singles group will help you find such relationships.
Being a part of a healthy single group can provide you with many of the same benefits that you often associate with your family. For example, like your family, your friends in your singles group may be able to see things in your romantic relationship that your are just too blind to see. Like your family, your friends will have a more objective view of your relationship than you do. Often, your friends from the singles group will be able to spot problems in your relationship before you do and they'll usually be willing to at least let you know about it and give you advice.
Joining a singles group will open up a world of opportunities that you probably didn't even know existed. Often, just showing up and participating in a few of the various activities and services offered by the singles group is all that is required before you will start to bond with those you meet and come in contact with. Combine the opportunity provided by a singles group with a little genuine effort on your part and you will begin to notice that you are no longer alone. Congratulations!
